President Buhari announces ministers

Posted on

The wait for President Buhari’s ministerial cabinet is now over. The President’s choice to hold back the selection of ministers has been the topic of discussion since his government took office on May 29th 2015 following Nigeria’s historic elections and it shall definitely please the populace that the President has finally selected the ministers that will head major ministries in Nigeria in the next 4 years.

When rumors first came through that the President shall not be picking his cabinet till September, it caused many to be unhappy as they had expected his administration to hit the ground running. The President, however, was keen on ensuring “the task of delivering the change he promised Nigeria not be rushed.” The President claimed that, “it would neither be prudent nor serve the interests of sound government to have made these appointments immediately on my elevation to the Presidency; instead, Nigeria must first put new rules of conduct and good governance in place.”

It is safe to say the ministerial list has finally passed the Senate and been approved.

We see the president take control of the Petroleum industry while Babatunde Fashola takes control of a merger of three ministries: Power, Works as well as Housing, Land and Urban Development.
