Preyé Releases Debut EP, Don’t Look Down!

Afrofusion singer and songwriter Preyé has released her debut EP, Don’t Look Down!

Comprising seven tracks, this EP which fuses soul and R&B stars the rapper LADIPOE in the song Love, Today. Preyé sings her creed of self-love; Ladipoe upholds that creed, throwing in a line that summarises the song’s theme: “Dig inside, you don’t need validation”.

With vocals unrushed and a soundscape as emollient as the sole female voice piercing through it, Preyé slinks through several emotions in this project. Red Wine, released as a single earlier this year, drips with booze-aided carnality. That carnality endures in Malibu, but this time there is a tit-for-tat demand: “If you cry with me, I’d cry with you,” Preye sings. And in Color and Crayons, Preye seeks to recapture the magic, innocence and curiosity of childhood.

The Port Harcourt native has come a long way since her debut single Mortia was released in 2015. Malibu, a song in her new EP, was listed in July by Billboard as one of their top R&B finds.
