On the back of amassing millions of streams across different digital streaming platforms and garnering the support of major media houses among other feats, British Nigerian rising star Raysmusik entered the year excited to release his long-awaited debut project previewed by his last single Perfect, released earlier in the years, but the South London native encountered a roadblock, which brought all his music plans to a grinding halt. However, this month returns with the anthemic life-affirming, Young.
Produced by Mr Kleb, Young finds RaysMuzik in a triumphant mood as we might expect from an artist excited to be back on track. He celebrates life all through the track as he boasts, “I’m feeling good, I’m in the groove” with a promise to “be living life like a holiday”. Raymusik stays in touch with the ongoing state of his communities (Nigeria and England) by dedicating a part of the single awareness on police brutality and racial discrimination, while strongly affirming that black lives matter.
In the accompanying music video, RaysMuzik collaborates with Charlie Rees and Edd Roberts of Fuego Films, to capture a day in the life of a young black boy and his friends in London, highlighted by love, friendship, community, and black boy joy. According to him,
“I wanted a joyful light-hearted video where we could be ourselves, but as much as I wanted to have fun, I also didn’t want to neglect the important message of us being black and proud”.
