Rich Hospitality — the Lagos-based group behind Mako Lagos and Koko Beach Hotels and Resorts, founded by Cecil Hammond and Richie Shittu — has partnered with Tape London, one of the UK’s most recognisable hip-hop nightlife brands, for a December pop-up in Lagos. The temporary venue opens on December 12th, bringing Tape’s global reputation into one of Africa’s most influential cultural markets.
The collaboration signals a broader shift in Lagos’ nightlife and entertainment landscape. For Tape London, the pop-up expands the brand’s presence into a fast-growing, youth-driven market with longstanding links to global music and culture. For Rich Hospitality, it builds on a portfolio that continues to shape the city’s premium social scene through venues that combine hospitality, creativity, and community.
The move builds on Cecil Hammond’s wider cultural imprint. Through Flytime — including Rhythm Unplugged and Flytime Fest — he has helped shape Lagos’ December economy for more than two decades. His work has pushed Nigeria to the forefront of music tourism, turning December into a major draw for both local and diaspora audiences.
By integrating Tape London into this environment, both companies are positioning the pop-up as a new entry point in Lagos’ evolving entertainment ecosystem.
“We see this as a meeting of two established pillars in nightlife,” said Richie Shittu. “Tape London has built a standard recognised around the world, and this partnership allows us to offer a refined experience to our guests and to the community that returns to Lagos every December.”
Tape London CEO Daniel Boyo echoed the sentiment, noting the brand’s longstanding relationship with Nigerian and diaspora audiences:
“We’re excited to reconnect with our Lagos community by bringing the Tape London experience to the city this December, in collaboration with the respected Rich Hospitality team.”
With their shared focus on cultural relevance and high-quality service, Tape London and Rich Hospitality aim to position the Lagos Pop-Up as one of the standout additions to West Africa’s premium hospitality scene this year.
The venue opens on December 12th, and the teams will announce programming and reservation details.
