The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State has accused Chibuike Amaechi, the State Governor of masterminding the kidnap of three of its officials on Wednesday evening. This allegation was made yesterday by Felix Obuah, the state PDP Chairman during a press briefing in Port Harcourt yesterday.

According to Obuah, the party officials were allegedly kidnapped at the residence of one the victims in Eagle Island area of the state capital. He gave their names at Hon. Chinyere Igwe, former member of the House of Representative, Ikechi Chinda, Chairman of the PDP in Port Harcourt Local Government Area and Alwell Ihunda a party stalwart.

“After a careful examination of the circumstances surrounding this abduction of our party leaders, the party believes that the kidnap was masterminded by Governor Rotimi Amaechi and the APC-led government in the state. We are shocked that Governor Amaechi is playing politics with the security of the lives and property in the state,” Obuah stated.

The State Chairman said that members of the party would protest on the streets if the abducted party officials are not released within 72 hours.
