Streaming platform Netflix is set to release its new African Original series, Blood & Water on May 20th. This release will continue Netflix’s foray into the African market after the launch of Pearl Thusi helmed Queen Sono earlier this year.
Blood & Water tells the story of a 16-year-old Puleng Khumalo who orchestrates a transfer to the illustrious Parkhurst College as she looks to investigate the abduction of her older sister at birth. Some film industry insiders are tagging the show a blend of Elite and Gossip Girl. The show is directed by one of South Africa’s most well-known black female directors, Nosipho Dumisa and features a bevy of newcomers in the diverse cast. Some of the cast members include Ama Qamata, Thabang Molaba, Khosi Ngema, Dillon Windvogel, Sandi Schlutz and Monique Rockman.
