Former Governor of Ekiti State, Engr. Segun Oni has formally declared for the All Progressives Congress, APC today.
Oni, up until today was a key chieftan of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the SouthWest.
Segun Oni is said to have taken the major step, which changes all political calculations in the state ahead of next month’s governorship contest, along with about 25,000 of his supporters.
In an event hosted by the incumbent governor of Ekiti state, John Kayode Fayemi, in Ifaki-Ekiti, Oni and his supporters received the APC flag.
Governor Kayode Fayemi today described Mr. Oni’s arrival in the APC as a huge victory for the party as the election approaches. He stated that the former governor would be welcomed to the APC at an enlarged rally on May 21st 2014.
The former governor also endorsed Kayode Fayemi for a second term in the upcoming gubernatorial elections in the state.
