It’s pretty evident that Seun Kuti’s afrobeat brilliance is inherent being the son of the king and maestro of afrobeats, the late Fela Anikulapo-Kuti.

A few months ago, Seun Kuti revealed that he had submitted his latest album, Black Times for consideration at the 61st Grammy Awards. Today, the nominees were announced, and the project made the cut in the ‘Best World Music Album’category.

Co-produced by Grammy winner, Robert Glasper, and performed alongside his late father’s band, Egypt 80, Black Times is an eight-track album goes on for more than an hour, it never gets boring, as he channels his father’s charisma and musical adeptness, with the standout tracks being “Kuku Kee Me”, “Theory Of Goat And Yam” and the iconic “Struggle Sounds”.
