Spotify has unveiled a new original podcast, Culture Club — a space where music lovers come together to explore the sounds shaping Africa today.
Hosted by Benewaah Boateng (Spotify’s Senior Editor for West Africa) and Michelle Atagana (Head of Communications, Sub-Saharan Africa), the debut episode dives into Afrobeats — its rhythm, roots, and rise to global dominance.
Part of Spotify’s ongoing Afrobeats: Culture in Motion campaign, Culture Club unpacks how the genre continues to evolve while staying true to its essence. Listeners can expect lively storytelling, sharp insights, and plenty of personality as the hosts celebrate the creativity and community driving Afrobeats forward.
As one guest puts it, “Afrobeats is the girl who shows up every season with a new look — bold, fresh, and unapologetically herself.”
“Through Culture Club, Spotify continues to champion the sounds and stories that move the continent,” said Henco Harmse, Spotify’s Editorial Lead for Sub-Saharan Africa.
While Afrobeats headlines the first episode, upcoming conversations will spotlight other genres and cultural moments shaping Africa’s creative scene.
