Afro-fusion artiste Omah Lay has been on a roll; kicking off this year by teaming up with popular fashion brand BoohooMan, then a collaboration with multi-award-winning artist, Justin Beiber on Attention and a single titled Woman. His latest win is a partnership with Sprite on the company’s first music campaign called Sprite Limelight.
The Sprite limelight project is led by Grammy award-winning producer, singer, and artist, James Blake. The project aims to urge people to rely on Sprite for strength during challenging times. Elated Omah Lay believes it is a unique medium to flaunt his Nigerian heritage saying, “It means a lot to me to be a part of the Sprite Limelight program, an unimaginable alternative for me to share my tradition with the world. I really feel blessed to be amongst these different nice artists to deliver one thing refreshing and optimistic to the world; large Shout out to James Blake for the mastermind behind the music, absolute legend!”
Commenting on the importance of this program, Shrenik Dasani, Sprite Global Brand Director, The Coca-Cola Company, says, “Sprite Limelight provides a unique opportunity for fans to experience new music, through one hook reimagined in three different ways. It also offers a window into the way they make music, as well as their own experiences – connected to our core brand philosophy – of staying cool in those moments when life’s heat feels intense. In bringing very different artists from around the world together around one musical expression based on a shared life experience, it connects music fans across cultures and borders.”
Omah Lay joins American rapper, Coil Leray and Chinese singer, Hua Chenyu on the project. Each artist works with Blake to bring their individual visions to life in their respective tracks. The outcome of their collaboration will be released as single tracks and presented in a documentary format for music films titled Heat Confessionals. Omah Lay and Chenyu are expected to drop after Coi Leray drops on the 10th of June, 2022. Fans will get individual playlists from each artiste.
