Wizkid Powers StarBoy’s Jazz Brimming Latest ‘Check’

Wizkid’s StarBoy Records continues to push the boundaries of Neo Afrobeat with their collaborative timely releases that bank on the labels roots in the genre. On SoundMan Vol 1, Wizkid delivered with authority and expertise, speaking to his ability to commandeer an entire group of budding industry giants and the seven-tracker also served as a worthy follow up to the likes of Soco and Ginger. In the same vein, they return today on the jazz brimming Check powered solely by Wizkid.

In typical new Wizkid fashion, he lounges on a heady bed of saxophones and snares, on-top of which he dishes on his feelings for a muse who’s “bad to the bone”. He totes his knowledge of street slangs like a prize in the way he lazily delivers each line with a soft punch that’s only present because he’s Wizkid.

Check is a stopgap for the video rollout from his recently released Made In Lagos album and a reminder of the type of talent StarBoy Records houses.
