Fireboy DML running across a field followed by an audience of little children chanting champion is probably not the way we envisioned the song when it opened the curtains on his sophomore album, Apollo but nuances of the seventeen track project suggested nothing that comes out of it is ordinary. So, as he charges through a field, stands atop hills and allows the forces of nature control him in the woods, we’re unsurprised that his interpretation of his power as a champion alludes to earthiness, a theme that colors him stronger than we’ve ever imagined in the video.

Directed by TG Omori, a frequent collaborator, the intersection of Fireboy’s nature leaning performance and D Smoke’s city boy outlook speaks to the former’s well roundedness.
