Spirituality and its mediation of reality is a theme that holds a lot of resonance in Nigerian society. This is reflected in the latest offering from Trino Studios, Sylvia which seeks to explore the themes of the real and the surreal, mental health and relationships.

The story’s centered around Richard Okezie, who decides to leave Sylvia (Zainab Balogun), his lifelong imaginary friend and lover for Gbemi (Inidima Okojie) an actual human being. The movie documents all that ensues in the fall out of Richard’s decision to abandon Sylvia and the wrath she unleashes on him.

The trailer does a good job selling the movie as it takes a storyline typical of traditional Nollywood and gives it a fresh feel.

The movie was written by Vanessa Kanu, directed by Daniel Oriahi, produced by Ekene Mekwunye, with Babatunwa Aderinokun and Uche Okocha as executive producers.
