Uber-talented Nigerian music duo, dubbed The Kazez, have launched the fourth installment, 4th Pair, of their two-piece music series, adding some novel spice to their growing oeuvre. This time around, they bring onboard Minz, a fast-rising Nigerian artist previously known for hit singles Wo Wo remix ft. Bnxn & Blaqbonez and Sokoto ft. Zinoleesky.
Composed of brothers Taiwo and Kehinde Kazim, The Kazez is an Afrofusion pair of versatile performing artists and talented songwriters who hail from Epe, Lagos. The duo have a music career dating back to 2011 when they recorded their first ever song after finishing high school. In 2015, they were part of the Hennessy VS class and went as far as the quarter finals. Their career has also driven them to some of the biggest events, such as Gidifest and Native Land.
In 2017, The Kazez released the single Alcohol, which became a fan favourite and was performed by some of the country’s biggest acts. They were part of Mr Eazi’s empawa artistes 100 artists, after which they released the single with video of 100 Naira 50 Naira, sponsored by the same record label in 2019. This was followed by the release of two singles You Deserve Better and Jericho in 2020. A year after, the duo returned with the single, Rihanna.
Over the years, The Kazez have honed their musical talent and created for themselves a commendable portfolio. This includes moments where they demonstrated their songwriting and production prowess on tracks of artists such as Joeboy, Davido and Oxlade. Since 2020, they have earned a reputation as the most sought-after songwriting duo in Nigeria. Having also worked on projects such as Stormszy’s Hide & Seek, Mayorkun’s Alarm, Oxlade and Dave’s Intoxicated, IZA and Tiwa Savage’s Bomzao and Bella Shmurda’s Ase, they have strategically positioned themselves as a unique force in the Nigerian music industry. The brilliant pair gave out one of the favourite singles of Ejoya class of 2022—Ajoke ft. Oladapo.
Beginning the year 2022 with the release of the single Church Mind, the Kazez soon launched a two-pack project series titled Pair, the first edition released on September 9th. A month after, they dropped the sequel 2nd Pair, which contains singles Stallion ft. Oladapo and Nor Do. On December 16th 2023, 3rd Pair was released, with Dremo featured on the second track Ring Leader.
Their latest inclusion in the series, released a month ago, features Minz. 4th Pair contains the tracks Teleport and POPO. In the former, Minz joins the brothers as they express amorous intentions to their romantic targets, stressing the desire to be with their partners at all times. The music duo are all by themselves in POPO as the repetitive, onomatopoeic chorus gives the track a special rhythmic appeal.
Created out of a strong desire to gradually build and possess a cult following, the Pair series is a music project that brings together artists of like-minded virtues. As the artistic duo tap into their versatility, blending impressive sonics and songwriting, they hope to capture the hearts of fans.
