The Trailer For Beverly Naya’s Documentary ‘Skin’ Features Phyno, Eku Edewor, Bobrisky, Hilda Dokubo

Nollywood actress Beverly Naya has finally released the official trailer for her forthcoming documentary on colourism called Skin, directed by Etim Effiong.

Set in present day Lagos, Naya embarks on a journey to learn about the contrasting perceptions of beauty. She speaks to school children, traders, artists, beauty entrepreneurs and sex workers. This narrative is interwoven with poignant personal accounts of individuals who have dealt with the pressure to conform certain standards of beauty, revealing how colourism continues to shape the face of the entertainment industry in Africa.

Naya concludes her journey with a trip to her home town exploring her rich cultural heritage with her mother and grand mother, between them three generations of beautiful black women who through sheer hard work and self love have built useful businesses laying a solid legacy for her and many like her to build upon. The documentary features interviews with Phyno, Eku Edewor, Dianna Yekini, Bobrisky, Hilda Dokubo etc.

The documentary has been chosen as the opening film at the 2019 iREP International Documentary Film Festival which celebrates the best of documentary films in Africa and beyond. It is also one of the official selections for Africa World Documentary Film Festival 2019.
