Thugs At Ikeja Allegedly Linked To Mushin’s Mafia Boss

As the #ENDSARS peaceful protests continue, it has become increasingly obvious that some of those in power have resorted to power in fighting back. This underlines the lack of credibility on the part of the governments who have given lip service to accepting the demands of protesters but ultimately, failed in following through with concrete actions. Yesterday, armed thugs in Abuja pounced on vulnerable #EndSARS protesters at the Berger roundabout and injuring some protesters. Some cars were LO also vandalized in the process.

Today, the Lagos state government-owned buses known as BRT conveyed armed thugs to Ikeja. It is alleged that the thugs were sent by ‘Baba Alado‘.

Who is Baba Alado?

A popular Mushin elder statesman, presently resident at Isheri-Oshun, Alhaji Taoreed Farounbi, popularly called Baba Alado is alleged to be behind the thugs sent to arrest protesters at Ikeja. In April 2020, he was accused of breaching public peace by unleashing terror on the Whitesand community between Festac and Amuwo Odofin area of Lagos over a land dispute. Over 50 hoodlums attacked members of the Kuje Amuwo Orofin family who lay ownership to the land. Two of the men working on the land died after sustaining deep machete cuts while another, Daniel Chibuzor, a recharge card seller was severely stabbed. Alado, known to be a serial land grabber had boasted of his close relationship to policemen during a previous land dispute in Isheri Oshun area of Lagos in August 2018 claiming the law could not stop him.

In 2010, a 9-year-old Aminat Lateef was murdered in December 2010, during a violent clash between groups of the National Union of Road Transport Workers(NURTW) in the Mushin area of Lagos State. The crisis was later traced to a misunderstanding between Baba-Alado and a former NURTW Unit Chairman, Joel Ajiboye.
