As African sounds are being globally accepted, it goes without saying that there is a paradigm shift that’s giving these sounds limitless possibilities. It is with this unlimited outlook Dublin based Nigerian singer-songwriter-producer, Tonero derives inspiration. Having already carved a niche for himself with his resounding 2017 debut EP, Ajna, and ensuing singles, Don’t Go and Missed Calls, he pops up on our radars, geared to stir and spark on Clementine, his 2021 debut.

Produced by TrillXoe, Clementine captures the thrill of being in love plus the angst and uncertainty that comes with it. In two minutes, Tonero is able to show off his tenor vocals and its ability to complement any sound, including TrillXoe’s frenetic yet haunting instrumentals.

Clementine is a double-entendre for a sweet citrus fruit that is loved but advised not to consume too much of, a title that speaks to Tonero’s literary prowess.
