Tony Elumelu makes Time 100 List of Most Influential People in the World

Tony O. Elumelu, one of Nigeria’s most beloved businessmen makes a debut in 2020’s TIME100- the annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world following in the path of former Nigerians like Peter Akinola and Oby Ezekwesili amongst others who have previously appeared on the list.

Currently, in its seventeenth year, TIME uses the platform to recognize the activism, innovation, and achievement of the world’s most influential individuals. Mr. Elumelu, one of four Africans on the list, is acknowledged for his role in developing the economic empowerment of young Africans.

Tony Elumelu is the Founder and Chairman of Heirs Holdings, his family-owned investment company, committed to improving lives and transforming Africa, through long-term investments in strategic sectors of the African economy, including financial services, hospitality, power, energy, technology, and healthcare. He is also the Chairman of the pan-African financial services group, the United Bank for Africa (UBA).

Most prominently, Elumelu has also championed entrepreneurship in Africa since creating The Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF) -his philanthropic organization that provides a funding pipeline and empowering a generation of African entrepreneurs in a bid for economic prosperity and job and wealth creation across the continent.
