Tsuni Dazzles On Alternative Take On Amapiano ‘I’m A Piano’

Nigerian artists are making the most of the Amapiano sound. From titles to sound improvisations and final takes on the South African sound, we’ve witnessed the finest and occasional worst of their improv skills. The latest to hop on this fast-moving train is Tsuni, whose alternative rendition of the drum-driven sound balled up into a two-pack single produced by WinzyCool: I’m A Piano, falls on the finer and better spectrum coupled with laudable metaphorical titles and lyricism.

The first single, Deny, is an ode to her initial reaction to the single’s instrumentals; curt but mesmeric. Tsuni wants her listeners and fans to feel the same way she did when she wrote the song, a feeling of immersion and appreciation. With her rhythmic words, she urges them to bask in the melodies of the song and embrace the feeling it evokes in them.

On the second single, Memo, which features another rising act, Emk The Genie, Tsuni sings in pidgin and Yoruba, blending both languages over the galvanic drums seamlessly. Emk The Genie mirrors her stance and glides effortlessly over the instrumentals, showing off his vocal ability and mesmeric harmonies just like his hostess.

I’m A Piano is a break from what’s now the norm and following Tsuni’s unique style, it offers us a refreshing take on the well-worn sound, increasing the singer’s likability in the same vein.
