Chude Jideonwo grew up as the only child of his parents in Surulere. Obsessed with books, he published his first book as a teenager, leading to an introduction to Dr. Levi Ajuonoma, a gregarious TV personality who offered him a show segment. He honed his skills under Funmi Iyanda and Agatha Amata.
Gaining media experience as a teen, he worked at Virgin Nigeria and NEXT Newspaper, then co-founded Red Media Africa with Debola Williams and the late Emilia Asim-Ita. They launched franchises like YNaija, Statecraft, and The Future Awards.
The Future Awards became Nigeria’s top youth event, coveted by politicians, inspiring Statecraft as a governance consultancy. They supported President Jonathan in 2011 and his 2015 defeat via the Buhari campaign. Buhari’s disappointments triggered Chude’s depression, seeding his book How Depression Saved My Life.
Exiting Red Media, he founded Joy, Inc. and With Chude, pioneering emotion-led journalism.
