Nigerian music circles are constantly awash with the conversation about quantity vs quality. While different artists have different formulas, WANI has stuck to one that has perfection at its center. Dropping his first song, Instaman in 2017, WANI has refused to flood the market with his material, instead intricately releasing music capping it with his acclaimed afropop project Lagos City Vice in 2018. Since then, WANI has retreated into the shadows only sharing a video for China Designer and a verse on Odunsi’s Better Days since then. Today, he shares his long-awaited return in the form of a dual release of Fast Life featuring Minz and No Love with Prettyboy DO.
Fast Life is a midtempo drum laden effort that details a relationship with a touch of toxicity that keeps things interesting and sees both WANI and Minz make promises to do right by her if she gets with the motive.
No Love is also a midtempo record but WANI switches the subject matter and instead spends his time addressing the disappointments he’s experienced at the hands of man and how they’ve informed a refined and highly guarded WANI.
Hopefully, these are only the start of a flurry of releases from WANI.
