With Accelerate TV’s Filmmaker Project, the company has taken an interest in developing the next generation of African filmmakers. The project launched in 2017 and continues to emerge as a hub for Nollywood talent, including AMVCA winner, Michael ‘Psalmist’ Akinrogunde.
2019’s finalist class consists of Alfa Farouk, Tosin Ibitoye, Olabisi Akinbinu, Adetola Films and Miriam Dera. Akinbinu’s LAST explores the loneliness older folks experience when all their kids are grown and have become too busy for them. The lead character, a lonely aged mother, seeks to connect with her children on her birthday but they all seem to be busy.
