It’s the season of sequels in Nollywood as old favorites are being revamped to suit the current times. From the producers of last year’s record-breaking sequel of Living In Bondage, comes a new remake; Rattlesnake: The Ahanna Story. Created by the late Amaka Igwe, the original Rattlesnake is a three-part Nollywood movie released in 1995. The movie centers on the story of Ahanna Okolo – a boy who, after the death of his father, was forced into a life of crime. The movie featured Francis Duru as Ahanna, Nkem Owoh, Anne Njemanze, Francis Agwu, Ebele Uzochukwu, Bob Manuel, Okey Igwe, Julius Agwu, Ernest Obi, Ejike Methuselah, Uche Odoputa, Okey Okoronkwo, Tony One week, Stella Damasus, Genevieve Nnaji and Chris Okotie.
The new remake is projected for release in theatres in November but expectations are already high for the upcoming movie. PlayNetworks CEO, Charles Okpaleke revealed on that Producer Larry Gaaga has been commissioned to produce the soundtrack for the project which seemed a natural choice after his success with the aforementioned ‘Living in Bondage Breaking Free’ movie.
In Rattlesnake’s 1995-installation, the story followed Ahanna through hardship to a life of crime, ill-gotten wealth, and then, long-overdue revenge. Ahanna’s return in the Ramsey-Noah produced sequel leaves a myriad of questions that only stem to fuel the wait for the sequel release which will feature Stan Nze, Efa Iwara, Osas Ighodaro among a few exceptional others.
