2020 via Made In Lagos, was the final straw in the realization of Wizkid’s migration from an eager Afrobeat star to complacency. His demeanor on the fourteen track album both wowed us and disappointed die-hard fans and critics who expected a more energetic Wizkid but in sound and delivery, he has completely evolved but Ginger, the Burna Boy assisted fan favorite is one of the few tracks on the album that’s reminiscent of the Wizkid from back in the day and the one we began to witness on Sounds From The Other Side.
Ginger gets treated to a video today and the Meji Alabi production is everything we expected it to be. A celebration of stars, success, and style, all of which we’ve come to associate with the very powerful and sought after duo. The ‘chill’ Wizkid the world is getting used to takes center stage and contrary to the many skits we’ve seen alluding to Burna Boy’s ownership of the spotlight on the song, they complement each other’s performance, exuding airs of authority and confidence being the sweet talkers they claim to be on the song.
