Afrobeats artiste Yarden has released a new single Busy Body under the production of Etins Record Label, which comes as a follow-up to the sensational hit Wetin out in November 2022.
Yarden was put in the spotlight following the release of Wetin in 2022. A fan favorite, the song also spent many weeks on Nigeria’s Spotify daily and weekly charts as well as several Apple Music daily charts and editorial playlists. Amassing over 15 million streams and appearing in over 200k TikTok remakes, there were no doubts about the far-reaching effect of Yarden’s music style as delivered on Wetin.
Busy Body is infused with mellow rhythms, sultry vocals, and slow-rocking beats that are in synchrony with the romance motif, as the lyrics are expressive of a male persona who is perpetually smitten. Part of the song’s hook goes: “For your matter, I go busybody/She no dey pick up but I keep on calling”. It reprises a traditional romantic pattern in which a man goes after the female lover and does not back out until she gives in to his amorous advances.
Despite being contingent on emotional vulnerability, the partly soulful song is a toast to love in its pure and unfettered state, as the artiste is not restrained by the possibility of outright rejection or unrequited gestures. His approach to love is, thus, encouragingly open-minded. You cannot help but admire Yarden’s voice on this song as it evokes boyish charm and intractable optimism.
