Celebrated Nigerian luxury womenswear designer Yutee Rone is set to unveil her latest body of work, Textures of the Ocean, at an exclusive fashion show on 30 November 2025. Known for her devotion to craftsmanship, elegance, and the quiet confidence her pieces evoke, Rone introduces a deeply personal, nature-inspired collection that reflects both her artistic evolution and her enduring connection to the natural world. The upcoming show marks a defining moment for the brand, drawing her audience into the serene yet powerful realm that shaped this new creative chapter.
The inspiration for Textures of the Ocean traces back to Rone’s recent trip to Mykonos, where her encounter with the Aegean Sea stirred something profound. Travel has long fuelled the designer’s imagination, but this journey sparked an especially meaningful shift.
“My travels and love for nature have always shaped my collections,” Rone says. “In Mykonos, I discovered a deeper affection for the ocean—its depth, its mystery, its effortless elegance. That experience revealed the essence of what this collection needed to become.”
This revelation became the spiritual and aesthetic anchor of the collection. Textures of the Ocean reflects the sea’s many dimensions: its tranquility, fluidity, and swirling rhythms; its ability to command attention without ever raising its voice. Rone describes the ocean as “timeless, fluid, serene, yet undeniably powerful”—qualities she sees mirrored in the women she designs for. This connection guided the collection’s silhouettes, textures, and emotional narrative.
Rooted in Rone’s commitment to timeless design, the collection expands the brand’s signature aesthetic while deepening its storytelling. Silhouettes glide in soft waves and architectural curves, echoing the rise and fall of the sea. Draping techniques evoke the flow of water, while more structured cuts suggest the quiet strength beneath the surface. Each piece is crafted to feel effortless yet intentional, allowing the wearer to move with calm assurance.
The colour palette draws directly from the ocean’s shifting moods: pale watercolours reminiscent of morning light, deeper ink-blues inspired by hidden depths, sandy neutrals, soft whites evoking sea foam, and pearlescent accents that capture the shimmer of sunlight on water. While the tones communicate serenity, their interplay creates a sense of movement and energy, much like the tides.
Fabric selection plays a central role in the storytelling. Silks, organza, and fluid satins echo the gentle movement of water, creating garments that seem to breathe with the wearer. Textured materials inspired by shoreline elements—grain, drift, and natural irregularities—add dimension and tactility. Subtle, precisely placed embellishments serve as quiet glints of light dancing across a moving surface.
Beyond aesthetic refinement, Textures of the Ocean explores a layered emotional landscape. For Rone, the ocean mirrors a woman’s interior world: calm yet dynamic, reflective yet assertive, soft yet infinitely strong. “The ocean teaches us about grace,” she notes. “It shows us what it means to move with purpose while maintaining serenity. This collection is for the woman who embodies quiet power and carries her own depth.”
The upcoming show, set at Pitstop Village in Ikoyi, is curated as an immersive encounter, transporting guests into the atmosphere that inspired the collection. Spatial design, sensory elements, music, staging, and model movement all echo the rhythm of waves, the hush of the tide, and the expansive stillness of open water.
Industry observers, fashion editors, cultural tastemakers, and long-time supporters can expect a presentation that pushes the conversation on contemporary Nigerian luxury forward. As Rone continues to refine her voice as a designer, Textures of the Ocean emerges as a confident statement—one that weaves artistry, emotion, craftsmanship, and a sensitive understanding of form.
