12 Most Anticipated Albums of 2015 #9-7

Wizkid, TBC

Ayo Balogun is threatening to drop another album again. With the consensus on Ayo being that he underperformed, his stock is lower than it should be. However, someone with an idea of these things explains that after fulfilling his EME contract, this is the album that ‘Ayo’ should have been. It’s better structured and holds the international collaborations and is especially not a mere contractual obligation. With all that, it is fair to suggest that the shortcomings of Ayo will be addressed and a more befitting piece will bless our ears.

Davido, TBC

Davido ran 2014 without dropping an album. He had the biggest singles, appeared on the hottest remixes and carted awards like they were going out of fashion. Then he took on Wizkid to prove he was truly sat at the table and made peace with him when his point was made. With a projected April release date, the question is can he take the next step and cement his place at the forefront?

Patoranking, TBC

Patoranking is the rookie of the year and could even stake a claim as the MVP. Is there even a debate? Taking stock of the most popular Nigerian songs this year, three of them (Murda,Girlie O Remix & Emergency) featured the singer. There were a couple of moderately successful appearances too meaning that he’s peaking perfectly. His act built around a fusion of Reggae, Afro Pop and Hip Hop is pretty unique (Burna Boy is the only person he can be compared to) means a new album could be a genre definer. Sounds tidy, if you asked me.
