Burna Boy is having the type of moment that we’ve yet to see in contemporary Nigerian music. As he continues to take steps towards world domination, we get a new YouTube mini doc that highlights the growth and evolution of Nigeria’s first true rockstar.

Using the voices of some friends, his mother and his grandfather, we get a sense of the young Burna Boy who explored fully his creative talents while struggling academically. From here, he’d end up in Brixton where his music gained a new dimension. The story is told using his affiliation with Fela Kuti as a filter posing him as one the most authentically legitimate heir in the mainstream.

The clip builds up to his December headline concert at the Eko Hotel.
