Nigerians React To Mayweather – McGregor Fight With Match-Fixing Talk

With a total of 281 landed punches between both fighters, the biggest fight in combat sports history dubbed “The Money Fight” was colossal in more ways than one. It saw a living legend retire with an unbeaten record of 50-0, with more money in his bank account than he could count. It saw a 29-year-old go toe-to-toe with the 40-year-old champ and hold his grounds, amongst many other records.

The Saturday-night bout at the T-Mobile Arena witnessed Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather go against Conor Mcgregor for dominance in the world of Combat Sports. The two-division mixed martial arts (MMA) world champion, Conor McGregor started the bout well and landed more punches than his opponent within the first five rounds. However, as he began to tire, the undefeated eleven-time five-division professional boxing world champion Floyd Mayweather became more aggressive and out-boxed the Irishman by landing 170 punches.

Money came away with the victory in the 10th round with a TKO called by referee Robert Byrd. Despite his loss also, McGregor is a name that will echo for all eternity as the debutant who stepped into the ring and held his own against arguably the best fighter of this generation.

Despite the level of entertainment inside the ring, Nigerians took to twitter to express our hilarity like only us know how to. One of our many traits is our ability to banter with just about anything. See a handful of our favorite tweets below.
