As the shaku shaku wave has taken effect, one of the songs that has proved central to the movement is Peckham by way of Lagos, Naira Marley’s Issa Goal. Featuring Olamide and Lil Kesh, the video treatment of the Studio Magic produced song is an ode in part to the Super Eagles and their legacy as we see different iterations of the green and white kit amidst a backdrop of exuberance – in the dancing and gesturing. The video is intro’d by commentary of a Kanu Nwankwo goal and archival footage of a goal scored by Papilo against Brazil from Atlanta 96.

Speaking to Fader who premiered the video exclusively, he said of coming up with the song;

“There was a sound in it that just reminded me of football and the World Cup. Da-da-ding, da-da-ding…it just made me think of football and goals so that’s how “Issa Goal” came up”.
