2Baba Exits Now Muzik After Two Decades

Nigerian music star, Innocent Idibia has announced the dissolution of his management agreement with Efe Omorogbe of Now Muzik after two decades.

“Two of Nigeria’s most iconic contemporary music brands, the revered pop giant Innocent ‘2Baba’ Idibia, and respected management label, Now Muzik, announced today the end of their partnership of over two decades. The mutual disengagement is with mutual effect,” the statement read in parts.

With decades of experience managing artists like Timi Dakolo, Sunny Nneji, Tunde & Wunmi Obe (T.W.O) and management that blossomed from around 2004, Efe Omorogbe has been part of Tubaba’s evolution into one of Africa’s oldest most relevant artists.

Formerly known as 2Face Idibia, around the mid-2000s, 2Baba made a significant shift towards a solo career after the fall of Plantashun Boiz, a pioneering group that emerged in the late ‘90s and left a lasting impact on the new millennium with influential albums like Body & Soul (2000) and Sold Out (2003). Pitching his tent with the prominent label of that era, Kennis Music, the move marked the end of the group’s dominant era, and the beginning of another phase for  2Baba’s illustrious era as a solo artist, quickly establishing himself as one of the most significant figures in the continent’s music scene throughout the following decade with hit albums like Face 2 Face and Grass 2 Grace

2Baba exits from Now Muzik with more than a decade of sustained relevance, and knowledge navigating multiple generations of superstars. He continues to set the standard for what it entails to be a longstanding artist in the Nigerian music scene since making a triumphant comeback.
