The weekend is the perfect time to “Netflix and chill” ahead of the everyday hassles of the following week. Here are a few Nigerian movies to unwind with:

NNEKA THE PRETTY SERPENT

Starring Idia Aisien, Bovi, Ndidi Obi, Chioma Chukwuka, Ramsey Noah, the movie tells the story of pretty Nneka who after witnessing her parent’s death has to struggle through the everyday hassles of life with a spurring desire for revenge. Just when she’s about to overcome her past and let things slide, she encounters the queen mother who seems to share the same enemies with her. In exchange for being the successor, Nneka agrees to let her use her body to attack the enemies. It becomes a communication between land and sea. But can Nneka conquer all her enemies?

FINDING HUBBY

Finding Hubby narrates a very relatable adventure of a group of friends in the quest to find a husband as they approach a certain age. The film recognizes the pressure that women face from their parents and society at large as they approach a certain age. Ade Laoye, Kehinde Bankole, and Munachi Abii who play the lead roles show the dynamics of how a female friendship should be.

THIS LADY CALLED LIFE

This Lady Called Life is a Nigerian romance drama written by Toluwani Obayan and directed by Kayode Kasumu. Abandoned by her family, young single mother Aiye struggles to survive in the modern city of Lagos while trying to pursue her all-time dream of becoming an elite chef. While trying to meet up with her cooking classes and care for her son, her aged mother falls ill. She has to agree to take care of her mother who is bent on giving her a hard time after constant pleas from her father. In the process, she meets a young bachelor who might just be her saviour. What really does life hold for Aiye?
The movie stars Bisola Aiyeola as Aiye, Efa Iwarra as Obinna. Other actors include Lota Chukwu, Jemima Osunde, Wale Ojo, Tina Mba.

WHO’S THE BOSS

Produced, written, and directed by Chinaza Onuzo, Liah (Sharon Ooja) is a young and ambitious employee who tries her best to work her way to the top but keeps getting de-valued by her problematic boss, Hauwa who is bent on keeping her beneath her foot and keeps acting like her village people just like her friend Jumoke says. However, Liah doesn’t take no for an answer and after everything, she’s been through she’s not about to let anybody step in the way of her dreams. Encouraged by her best friend Jumoke and loverboy Lekan, she starts her own agency while still working for her boss but, her deeds might just catch up with her. Other actors in the movie include Funke Akindele (Hauwa), Indima Okojie (Jumoke), Blossom ChukwuJekwu (Lekan).
