5 Recently Released Nollywood Films To Watch On Valentine’s Day

Just as in previous years, the Nigerian film industry has continued to release films and shows, engaging her audience on a journey of vast cinematic experiences. As Valentine’s Day sets in, cinephiles and lovers of Nollywood are promised a fun-filled experience with Nigerian films and shows across streaming platforms, on YouTube and in the cinemas.

Here is a list of five recently released films that explore themes of love and romance, and are recommended for watch this season. 

 

All’s Fair In Love

All’s Fair In Love, a romantic drama produced by Deyemi Okanlawan, is set to debut in Nigerian cinemas on February 14, 2024. The film revolves around two male business partners and friends who fall in love with the same woman and clash in their efforts for a relationship with their common love interest. The feature-length project stars South African actress Buhle Samuels as well as other Nigerian actors such as Lateef Adedimeji, Juliet Ibrahim, Gbubemi Ejeye, Ireti Doyle, Venita Akpofure, Daniel Abua and Timilehin Ojeola.

 

The Silent Intruder

Reality TV star Pere Egbi turns up with his executively produced film The Silent Intruder which explores the life of sex therapist Zaki and her struggles with a sexual addiction. The film is produced by Mo Fakorede, directed by Uyoyou Adia; and it stars Pere Egbi, Venita Akpofure, Dotun Oloniyo, Uche Montana and Lydia Achebe. Available  in the domestic cinemas from February 9, The Silent Intruder makes for a colorful Valentine watch.

 

 A Perfect Valentine

Royal Arts TV YouTube channel presents A Perfect Valentine, the story of a successful entrepreneur in search of the perfect guy for Valentine. Chika frequents weddings and catches bouquets in her bid  to secure a romantic partner, but her efforts prove abortive. While she contemplates going for a spiritual cleanse   Chika discovers that her diver, Daniel, whom she thinks is of lowly status, has an interest in her. A Perfect Valentine is produced by Emem Isong Misodi, and stars Ekama Etim-Inyang, Eso Dike, Ichie Fuego, Sandra Ifudu  and Henrietta Ijeoma Ibekwe. You can now watch the film on Royal Arts TV YouTube channel where it has been available since February 1.

Flawsome (Season 2)

 Flawsome returns for the second season on the new Showmax app, starring Bisola Aiyeola as Ifeyinwa, a company head who encounters challenges in her newly assumed position, and In Dima-Okojie as Rhamat who is faced with a divorce saga. Enado Odigie and Sharon Ooja play the roles of supportive friends, helping Ifeyinwa and Rhamat navigate their problems. As much as the show encourages romantic fulfillment, it shows the impact of genuine female friendships. The sophomore season of Flawsome made its debut on the Showmax app on February 12. The series also features Gabriel Afolayan, Toyin Abraham, Chris Attoh, Ali Nuhu, Joselyn Dumas, Iretiola Doyle and John Dumelo.

 

Treasure In The Sky 

Uchenna Mbunabo’s Treasure In The Sky is a high school drama that explores friendship, love, romance, and betrayal. Unknown to his peers, Jidenna (Clinton Joshua) suffers from acute leukemia,; yet he resolves to spend the last days of his existence  spreading love and happiness. The film reaches an emotional peak when Jidenna’s friends and romantic interest discover, to their shock, that things have gone awry for the sanguine-natured youngster.   Treasure In The Sky stars rising actors such as Miwa Olorunfemi, Emeka Eze, Chinenye Nnebe, Izzy Besta, Christian Effiong and Obiajulu Ken Ohanenye.
