Over the past three years, the biggest Nigerian story has been that of the Chibok Girls who were kidnapped by Boko Haram. As the days have gone by, hope for many has waned and a belief that all the girls will never return home has been supported by multitudes of suicide bombings believed to have been some of the Chibok girls. Boko Haram seems to be combatted however, the return of the girls has still seemed outside reach.

Today, reports from Sahara Reporters have revealed that a group of 82 girls were released following negotiations between the Buhari administration and terrorist group. Sahara’s source further revealed that that the 82 girls who have just been freed are currently in Banki town in Borno state awaiting an airlift to an unknown destination where they shall be debriefed, undergo psychological and medical tests before reuniting with their families.

The reports are thus far yet to be confirmed by either the Federal Government or Bring Back Our Girls.
