Building upon the success of his last single, The Life I Chose, Nigerian music sensation Adekunle Gold has released a sizzling new single, Rodo under Def Jam Recordings.
Aptly named Rodo, which translates to ‘fiery heat,’ in this track, Adekunle Gold skillfully and seamlessly blends Afrobeats and Amapiano with traditional Nigerian genres like Fuji and apala. This fusion of sounds instantly captivates as he delivers lively verses complemented by a playful chorus, celebrating the most primal form of physical joy.
Adekunle Gold’s career is ablaze. Last month, he concluded his headline UK tour with a spectacular performance at London’s iconic OVO Wembley Arena, a packed London crowd with electrifying live renditions of his chart-topping hits from his extensive discography of five studio albums.
This tour followed his sold-out O2 Academy Brixton show at the end of 2022 in support of his critically acclaimed fourth studio album, Catch Me If You Can, and his recent highly successful North American tour, where he entertained audiences in major cities across the United States and Canada.
The reach of Adekunle Gold’s sound has widened, and his hit track Party No Dey Stop ft Zinoleesky has soared into the Top 10 of the Billboard Top Afrobeats Songs Chart, peaking at #3 on the Official UK Afrobeats Chart, and garnering over 51 million Spotify streams and 15 million YouTube views for its music video. It served as the cornerstone of his 2023 debut album for Def Jam Recordings, Tequila Ever After.
Earning critical acclaim and accumulating over 265 million worldwide streams, Tequila Ever After features hits like Party No Dey Stop, Ogaranya, and tracks from his album, Tio Tequila, released earlier in 2023.
The stage is set for Adekunle Gold to deliver more musical treasures, shows, and surprises throughout the year.
