In the past year, we’ve witnessed Akon push his music agenda by utilizing the superpowers of some of West Africa’s finest on a number of projects including Akonda which featured the likes of Skales, Olamide and Kizz Daniel. As he gears up to the release of another, he enlists Wizkid on his latest single titled Escape.
Highly reminiscent of Akon’s old sound that birthed hits like Lonely, Escape is a heartwarming love ballad complete with an acoustic soundscape that allows for the eruption of feelings along with its rising tempo.
Wizkid takes the lead with a stunning first verse with the power to serenade his listeners, in the same manner, he wishes to, his muse. Akon comes on the second verse after a comely chorus with a nostalgia inspiring promise to his lover. Together, the duo manages to get their listeners yearning for the escape they sing about.
