After making a strong return to our soundwaves with her first release of the year Leave Me Alone, the lead single off her highly anticipated upcoming EP, The Angel You Don’t Know, Amaarae shares the animated and futuristic video, signature to her artistry to accompany the budding fam favorite single.
The dystopian universe in the Gianluigi Carella directed video is in clear parallel with the Alternative RnB style Amaarae is popular for, and with lockdown a determining factor in the animated directive, the video transitions from an avatar version of the songstress, tired of the monotony of the daily routine, to being abruptly transported to a hyper-modern alternative world.
As the video continues to develop we see Amaarae ultimately become the hero of her own story before the scene cuts away.
With more to come, the nostalgic, sultry sound and theme of this single is warm, moody, and revels in the idea of escapism, which is in line with the trip the video takes you on.
