Being the sound brain behind most rap songs, Beats By Jayy, also known as Big Daddy Jayy is famous for being instrumental in the creation of some Chocolate City’s biggest hits as a Producer. This month, however, he switches personas as he relegates music production for singing on his sophomore EP, Jayynius.
Last year, he set the tone for the six-track EP with Road To Jayynius and while the five-track is a sound storm, it didn’t quite prepare us for the quality compounding feature of Jayynius. Throughout the six-track offering, listeners are offered acoustic-driven, deep bass grooves, jazz and original Afrobeat delightful soundscapes provided by the diverse artist with hints of his signature, hazy, immersive vibes scattered across all six tracks.
There’s something for everyone on the sound and subject boundless EP with jazzy corny tracks like LOML and Let It Go, soulful introspective offerings like Sure 4 Me, the emotive Buju assisted Somebody’s Daughter and the politically charged Casted. From start to finish, Big Daddy Jayy transcends his Producer persona and proves he is able to truly capture the hearts and minds of listeners with not only sounds but words and delivery.
