Following the announcement of his forthcoming album release date, Blaqbonez has released the lead single Back In Uni off his Young Preacher album set to drop on the 28th of October. The rapper who is know for disappearing from social media and then coming back when he has new music, returns with a new single that captures his many escapades as a student back in the university where he left a trail of heart broken women in his wake. Blaqbonez is a graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University just like his industry counterpart Asake. The single is produced by in demand UK producer JAE5 who delivers a bouncy swing beat for Blaqbonez to lay his smooth bars.
Before releasing his new single, Blaqbonez shared a snippet on his social media and many have said that it is the hardest music snippet released this year. Ahead of the song’s premiere, Blaqbonez also shared a promotional video of him and his crew visiting his former hostel in OAU to take one of the many cover photos for the new single.
Blaqbonez opens the record with the magnetic chorus that goes, “All the hearts I broke in Lekki, Only God fit protect me, All the lies I told them girlies, Goddamn I’m way too reckless. My girlfriend way back in Uni, Some things she’ll never know, Oh lord I did her dirty, Some things she’ll never know.” The record follows Blaqbonez as he reminisces on his his notorious university days. Blaqbonez was recently on a special episode of Chinasa Anukam’s Is This Seat Taken YouTube show where he name dropped some of his friends who are cheating and further doubled down on his unbelief in love which as we can see on Back In Uni has been a common occurrence for him.
JAE5 has also taken to his Twitter account to share that he didn’t work on the Back In Uni beat alone; he had help from The Ellements who were also instrumental in the creation of Burna Boy’s It’s Plenty beat.
