Bomb Blast at Kano Central Mosque.

It has been reported that there was a bomb blast at the Central Mosque in Kano state during Juma’at prayers today.

This mosque is where Emir of Kano, Mallam Lamido Sanusi leads prayers every Friday however it was confirmed by a reputable source that the Emir is in fact in Saudi Arabia.

It is believed that there were three simultaneous bomb blasts, a technique Boko Haram has regularly employed.

One worshipper, Aminu Abdullahi, claims: “Two bombs exploded, one after the other, in the premises of the Grand Mosque seconds after the prayers had started.”

He said the third blast was on a nearby road.

A witness at a local hospital was sad to describe the scenes there as being the most horrible he had ever seen.

Earlier this month, the Emir called on people to defend themselves against Boko Haram.

At a prayer meeting he said residents should “acquire what they need” to protect themselves.

An official speaking to Agence France-Presse, put the casualty toll at 64 dead and 126 hurt, although this has not been independently confirmed.

Is it possible that the Emir was actually the target of this attack?
