Considering the denseness of talent in the music industry these days, it takes the right amount of skill, bankable partnerships, and charisma, to stand out. A skilled player of the guitar and piano with music education and passion that’s been brewing since she was a child, vocalist, and budding singer, Bubella possesses a distinct voice that permeates her mostly self-produced songs like warm milk. Doubling down on her social media fame, Bubella is ready to spread like wildfire and she puts her best foot forward this week with For You.
For You is set within a knocking bass line that stirs a heated atmosphere complemented by percussions, reminiscent of battle drums. When Bubella’s sweet vocals come in, stating her intent to fall in love, strings and swooning keys fall in place as well. Her assured songwriting captures the feelings of lust and longing, delivered in a passionate drawl that reveals the subtle influences of Jazz and Soul. Singing about a romantic interest, the song’s first verse begins: “My world is on fire and no one can save me but you, so strange what desires can make a foolish girl do.”
As far as comparisons go, fans of Waje and Asa will surely love Bubella’s music, every bit as introspective and vocally textured as the mentioned musicians.
For You is the lead record off her forthcoming EP, a brilliant project which will confirm her as a prospective superstar in Nigeria’s buzzing music scene.
