Chocolate City’s newest signee, Major AJ has released his debut project Retroverse. The retro-themed project consists of a catchy new sound that sets him apart from his contemporaries.

In Retroverse, Major AJ takes you back to the ’70s, playing with nostalgia as he incorporates funk and disco soul against a backdrop of Afrobeats. Retroverse is a collection of rare African funk and disco-inspired moments in 5-tracks. The EP opens with Afrodisco, a catchy, feel-good tune, and progresses to Mr Lover where he pulls off a hard funk-disco theme reminiscent of the Michael Jackson era. Quickly, it switches to Taboo, an upbeat dance track, followed by Ominirascal which brings Major AJ back to his Afrobeats roots where he channels Fela, before wrapping it up with Superstar where he bares his soul.

In Retroverse, Major AJ welcomes you into his mind, as he conveys his emotions in exceptional songwriting. Major AJ exhibits a transverse display of a distinct sound in Retroverse. The musical direction is unique, intentional, and authentic, leaving you wanting more.
