Best described as a “melting pot of moods and alternative production”, Dan Onkar’s music is usually a vivid walk-through of his life experiences and influences, which allows us to see get the bigger picture of a life domiciled in Lagos and London. With both cities carrying big musical cultures, there’s an unmistakable blend of the cultures in Onkar’s music. His last EP, IRENE, is an encapsulation of this. With success pouring in from the release of the Afropop-infused, RnB dominant body of work, the North London-based Nigerian singer-songwriter, attempts to top the EP’s release with a nostalgic 70s themed video for its lead single Scandalous.
Directed by Ajuan Isaac-George, Onkar and dancer Priscilla Fagbemi are graciously dripped in floral prints, striking sequins, and retro patterns, fronting the video which is the perfect installment to accompany the irresistibly smooth and infectious single.
