If Lagos tracked its “most talked-about night,” list, the special edition of The Don’s Table hosted by Don Julio 1942 would easily top it.

Coinciding with Hollywood’s biggest night, the Oscars, the premium tequila brand brought the spotlight home, by hosting an immersive celebration. The event aimed to honor African film, fashion, and the people dedicated to authentic storytelling. Think glamour, meaningful moments, flowing cocktails, and a guest list packed with Nollywood stars.
Inside, guests enjoyed a carefully curated three-course, multi-sensory culinary experience. Each dish was paired with a signature Don Julio 1942 cocktail, crafted specifically for the event. The cocktails were smooth, layered, and beautifully presented, adding a luxe rhythm to the evening as conversations flowed between filmmakers, actors, and creatives reflecting on their journeys in the industry.
The highlight of the night was the panel session, featuring renowned actors Kunle Remi and Angel Anosike, while Uti Nwachukwu moderated the discussion. In a candid conversation, they explored the hurdles they faced in crafting stories that can transcend intercontinental barriers. They addressed the unseen labour of storytelling, the devotion to craft, the years of persistence, process, and passion that shape authentic African narratives.

The red carpet was a beautiful collision of Nollywood elegance and high fashion. Structured suits, sculpted gowns, and bold textures were worn by our favourite celebrities, including Jidekene Achufusi, Idia Aisien, Prince Enwerem, Uzoamaka Onuoha, and many others.

Beyond the glitz and glamour, the brand made a strong statement about its commitment to Nigeria’s creative industry, highlighting its decision to host this edition of The Don’s Table to honour the talented creators who tell African stories with pride.

For those unfamiliar, The Don’s Table is Don Julio’s flagship experiential platform; a series of curated, invite-only gatherings that bring together people who live and breathe their craft. The concept is both simple and profound: for those who follow the fire within, a seat is always reserved. This Oscar Edition took that idea and dressed it in the full regalia of Nigerian excellence.
