Since Femme Africa launched in 2018, no organization has had its finger on the pulse of which women are up next in the music industry like them. The work they do is particularly important because not only does it create a much-needed platform to amplify fast-rising, young Nigerian women in music, they’ve also been intentional about deflecting the limelight from the most obvious names to artists on the cusp evidenced by putting acts like Tems, Somadina, Maka, Asikey, Solis and Good Girl LA on ahead of anyone else. That Femme has also been tapped to curate sets for festivals like Nativeland and Palmwine Fest is also a testament to the eye for talent they’ve shown since launching.
To celebrate International Women’s Day this year, on March 8th, Femme Africa will host its fourth showcase. The showcase which will hold at CCX Lounge will feature five artists; Efe Oraka, Deena Ade, Clay Rocks, Jazz Atta and one additional act who emerges from a competition.
