With earlier released material, songs like IHY and Lay Low, as well as features on Lady Donli’s, Enjoy Your Life and DndSection’s Love Lies and Bleeding, Somadina makes a case for herself as a star in the making. With her debut project five-track EP Five Stages, she develops her resume and adds lyrical genius, vehicle of emotion and vocal powerhouse to the already impressive book as she puts her distinguishing traits on display and expands her discography.
Somadina’s exquisite taste for mood penetrating sounds surmounts the strained narrative, love, that spans the EP’s 5 tracks. The impressive roll-out of panoramic sounds begins with the piano driven But I Should, an almost mournful ode to a lost love articulated in Somadina’s signature sweeping vocals. Don’t Need, which serves as the project’s only feature with an impressive rap showing from Jay10 is a more energetic affair built on bass influenced instrumentals prepping the listener for the spirited journey Somadina takes us on with the rest of the project.
Somadina leaves her mark on the canvas with Five Stages and there is no doubt she is primed for the bright lights.
