With a name as distinctive as his sound, Osasike Bobby Uwuigbe—better known as Hammerboi—has turned the challenges of his childhood in Benin City into a source of inspiration. The son of a carpenter, Hammerboi’s rise from humble beginnings is now approaching an exciting new chapter as he joins Etins Records roster. He follows in the footsteps of Victor AD, Morien, and Yarden, all of who are making their mark in the music world.

Born in Benin City, Edo State, Hammerboi’s journey into music started as a producer before evolving into a songwriter and vocalist. His connection to his roots runs deep, not only through his upbringing but also in the way he incorporates his heritage into his music. The local Bini language, spoken by the Edo people, is a recurring feature in his songs, as seen in tracks like Edamwen and Sunobu.

Hammerboi’s breakthrough came in September 2024 with the release of his two-track song pack, Edamwen (Love Letter) and Amenze. The viral snippet of Edamwen on TikTok quickly gained momentum and amassed over 500,000 streams across various platforms, solidifying Hammerboi’s place in the mainstream music scene.

His remix of the classic Edo song Ighodefeyi by the legendary Osayomore Joseph further cemented his growing reputation, earning him praise from both the music icon and critics alike.
