Netflix has released the official trailer for Kunle Afolayan’s latest movie called Swallow.
Based on Sefi Atta’s book with the same title, the film adaptation explores drug trafficking, workplace sexual harassment and poverty in 1980s Lagos.
The trailer gives fans a taste of what to expect from the riveting drama-thriller written by Atta and Afolayan. Talking about his collaboration with the book’s author; Atta, he said, “It was a seamless process especially because it was my choice to work with the original writer of the book which is rare in most adaptations. Usually, people don’t work with the writers. I gave her a freehand to write what she thought and then changed a couple of things and infused some other things so as to give more life to the story.”
Directed and produced by Afolayan, Swallow follows the story of Tolani Ajao played by Niyola, a young secretary living in Lagos, her financially unstable boyfriend Sanwo (Deyemi Okanlawon) and her best friend Rose (Ijeoma Grace Agu).
Other cast members include Eniola Badmus (Mrs Durojaiye), Chioma Akpotha (Mama Chidi), Kevin Ikeduba (OC), Offiong Anthony Edet (Johnny) and Olusegun Remi (Mr Salako).
