It’s been two years since three-man band Ignis Brothers forayed the mainstream with a redefinition of indie music in form of their stunning debut, Braveheart. Refreshed and advanced, they make their way back to the scene this week, this time by way of a full body of work titled The Cost Of Our Lives which serves as their debut project, also bringing along a couple of collaborators and layers of worthy material that spotlights the unmistakable charm and elegant nature of their soulful sound.

Steeped in meaning and motive, the Ignis Brothers tear apart the essence and spirituality of life from different angles starting with the nature of humanity on the tranquil opener, Saint Or Sinner, a serene but stark reminder of who we are rolled out over naturalistic percussions produced by Muyiwa Akhigbe and Rhaffy. On the first track with a feature, the spotlight is on the time and chance and their inescapability while on the second track with a feature, the Logan February assisted I Lied, they explore the fragility of man after which we are schooled on the cost of life on curtain closer, Free. To Fly, a repurposed version of the Icarus story is the bridge on which the talent teeming triad show off their ear for genre transcendent sounds.

On The Cost Of Our Lives, the Ignis Brothers donned in full sonic armor, bring out all the sounds, stories, spirit, and soul they can to make nonconforming and heartfelt music that seems to have been sculpted from the very core that ties our ears to our souls resulting in a blissful cacophony that will definitely tug on your heartstrings and throw you into fits of introspection.
