Johnel NG Welcomes Daine Steele Into His Lenient World on Latest Single, “Mercy”

Music is known to transcend geographical boundaries and have a universal appeal, hence collaborations between artists of unique cultural backgrounds are easy to come by. In hip-hop, talents from vastly different scenes often combine their flows to produce hits. Fast-rising rappers Daine Steele from Indiana, America and Johnel NG from Lagos, Nigeria have joined forces, merging their trap flows with a melodic rap style on the latest single, Mercy. A soulful instrumental featuring bouncy trap beats layered over an eerie synth, reminiscent of a cathedral procession, is introduced by Sixty Whxte to the couple.

Johnel’s smooth flow and tough-talking lyrics complement his relaxed voice style. But Daine Steele’s stanza sticks out because of his unique combination of R&B flow and melodic rap, which is a tribute to the hustler ambition he talks about in his song. Mercy serves as a reminder that cross-border collaborations don’t have to sacrifice flair by showcasing each artist’s distinct delivery.

The music video was shot in Indiana in the USA and Lagos in Nigeria, and was released alongside the song on December 22, 2023.
